The Alayrins are one of the four High Families, that is, they rule over a fourth of the Island of the Sun. Kieris is the oldest son and the Heir, with four little sisters. He's closest to his youngest sisiter, Lisandra, even though they bicker a lot.
His childhood was fairly happy and normal, although his father had an obsession with trying to make him a stereotypical Warrior-esque athlete, and Kieris really had no interest in it. Instead, he spent hours reading and studying.
The only part of his childhood that wasn't very happy was one of the minor Lord's youngest son... The youngest of three and super-agressive, he (for reasons no one knows) decided he didn't like Kieris and kept goading him on and goading him on and, well, eventually just beat him up. ^^;
Kieris is the definition of "nice guy." He's incredibly polite and kind to everyone, and treats Ladies like glass. However, this isn't because he's sexist, it's because he's trying to be the opposite of his childhood bully, who is brash and sexist and.... Well, they still don't get along, but now the bully has become a Warrior and so they aren't faced with each other much anymore.
For the most part, he's fairly quiet and mild-mannered, but assertive enough to form his own opinions, even if they are unpopular (a frequent occurance.) However, when he feels strongly about something (much less frequently) he is quite stubborn and much more agressive. This is very rare, though.
