FAQ/About

What is this site?
Nobody Told The Horse is my Newsies mini-collective. Most of it is centered around fanfiction, because I think everything else I could say/tell you about the movie has been done before. If you're looking for info on the movie itself, check out the sites on my links page.

* How I Spent My Summer Vacation is a website that showcases my epic Jack/David fic, the first part of the site I created.
* Fanfic101 came next, and is a site full of information, advice, tips, and so on for fanfic writers. If you're looking for a guide to basic grammar and such, check it out.
* Underage Smokers is a collection of every Newsies fanfic I've ever written. I wanted somewhere to put them all in one place, and it's got everything from the fics I co-wrote to the smutty ones to the ones that were only posted on mailing lists or banned from FFnet. It's all here.
* The Refuge is an all-slash, searchable, uploadable archive I host and co-run. Everything is moderated for quality, organized by pairing, and our forums are open to all.
* Scabbers is where I put all the miscellaneous stuff I created, that didn't fit anywhere else: icons, fic recs, etc.

How did you create this place?
I did it all the graphics and coding myself. I'm self-taught at HTML and CSS, and have been designing websites for myself for about eight years, so I've gotten pretty good at it. I also did the graphics myself using Photoshop CS (though this icon tutorial helped a lot). For people interested in creating websites, I highly, highly recommend you learn at least some HTML yourself, because in the long run it gives you a lot more control over the way your site looks and functions.
(The old layout of the site looked like this.)

Your writing sure is good. Where have I seen it before? Where can I find more of it?
Probably at fanfiction.net, ficwad.com, or the Refuge. If you want non-fanfic writing, check out the rest of queenitsy.com, and my writing journal.

You run a slash website? That means you hate Newsies, right?
I fail to see the logic in that question, but it's been asked of me in all sincerity, so: no. I love Newsies, I love slash, and so I slash Newsies. If you're not down with slash, that's fine with me; I won't force you to read it if you won't try and convince me I should hate it. Deal?

But seriously, why do you like slash? Gross.
If you're genuinely curious, I wrote an essay about that awhile ago.

Will you link to me?
Maybe. I only link to sites which are well designed and interesting to read; for examples, look at my links list. However, I'm happy to check your site out.

Can I link to you?
Absolutely! Please do!

Can I use/archive your icons/graphics/stories/layout/etc?
Icons are up for grabs, if you let me know you're taking them and don't hotlink. I'll probably allow you to archive my story, if you link back here, but you should ask first. The answer is probably no to using graphics I created specifically for this site, or to my layout.

Will you design a site for me, then?
Only for money. I'm quite poor and designing websites, especially from scratch, takes a lot of time, energy and creativity.

Can you beta read my fic for me?
I'm a terrible beta reader: I take months to do it. You're welcome to email me and ask, but honestly, I'd recommend asking for a beta at the Refuge forum and reading FF101 for advice.

Were any of these questions really asked?
Only the one about whether or not writing slash means I hate Newsies. I just hated my old "about" page and this seemed like a lot more fun.

Dude, who are you, anyway?
Who are any of us, really?
